Decision Encouragers
A Decision Encourager is a volunteer who helps provide spiritual guidance based on scripture as well as
answer questions about Westside Baptist Church. The exential characteristics of an Encourager
is a grateful
heart that reflects the love of Christ, a genuine smile, an attentive listening ear, and a
sincere concern for a person's spiritual condition and victory.
|
| |
| Deacons also accept ministry leadership responsibilities that prevent the pastoral staff from carrying
out the primary responsibility of prayer, studying and teaching God's Word, and leading / equipping
church members to minister. (Acts 6 and Ephesians 4) |
| |
| Deacons serve as a "multitude of counselors" for the pastoral staff in regards to future direction, staff,
and ministries of the church. They also serve as a role model to church members and others
concerning the passion and activity of a committed follower of Jesus Christ in the context of Westside
Baptist Church. ( Enthusiastically, physically, financially, and verbally support the direction of the church, participate in the regularly scheduled church service, and be involved in the outreach of the
church.) |
| |
| Deacons assist with the Lord's Supper and Baptism. They visit with widows and shut-ins by means of
a personal visit to the home, a telephone call, or writing notes. They are active in the Benevolence
ministry and visit people in the hospital. |
